OWLT Seeks Accreditation From Land Trust Accreditation Commission

The Ozaukee Washington Land Trust, Inc. (OWLT) is pleased to announce that it is applying for accreditation with The Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance. The land trust accreditation program recognizes land conservation organizations that meet national quality standards for protecting important natural places and working lands forever.

The Land Trust Accreditation Commission conducts an extensive review of each applicant’s policies and programs. To be accredited an organization must meeting national standards for excellence, upholding public trust and ensuring conservation efforts are permanent. As OWLT prepared for the accreditation application, it was afforded the opportunity to review and implement policies that will streamline operations, ultimately leading to more effective land conservation efforts. 

A public comment period is now open. The Commission invites public input and accepts signed, written comments on pending applications. Comments must relate to how OWLT complies with national quality standards. These standards address the ethical and technical operation of a land trust.
