Site Specific Hunting Policies

Our preserves have unique hunting policies depending on many factors such as: public use, size, DNR contracts, sensitivity of the environment or management goals. Allowable activities are listed here for your reference – if an activity is not listed, it is considered restricted and not allowed at the site. Both Managed and Open Access sites are listed below.

Temporary name: Center lane Preserve – Saukville, 60 acres

Located @ 3200 Center Lane West Bend, WI 53095

  • Open Access site
  • Deer hunting by gun and bow
  • Waterfowl, small game, and upland game bird hunting allowed
  • Trapping and predator hunting allowed

Temporary name: County Line Preserve – Saukville, 72 acres

Located @ 6077 County Rd. Y West Bend, WI 53095 (east side of Hwy)

  • Open Access site
  • Deer hunting by gun and bow
  • Waterfowl, small game, and upland game bird hunting allowed
  • Predator hunting allowed
  • Limited parking, first come first serve

Temporary name: Newark Lore Preserve – Farmington/Trenton 112 acres

Located 7380 Indian Lore Rd. West Bend, WI 53090

  • Open Access site
  • Deer hunting by gun and bow
  • Waterfowl, small game, and upland game bird hunting allowed
  • Trapping and predator hunting allowed

Cedarburg Environmental Study Area – Cedarburg, 39 acres

  • Managed Access Site
  • Deer hunting allowed
  • Hunting by bow only
  • OWLT permits 2-4 hunters

Decorah Woods – West Bend, 45 acres

  • Managed Access Site
  • Deer hunting allowed
  • Hunting by bow and gun
  • Small game and upland game bird hunting allowed
  • Trapping and predator hunting allowed
  • OWLT permits 2-4 hunters

Fellenz Woods – Trenton, 160 acres

  • Managed Access Site
  • Deer hunting allowed
  • Hunting by bow only
  • OWLT permits 4-6 hunters

Forest Beach Migratory Preserve – Belgium, 116 acres

  • Managed Access Site
  • Deer hunting allowed
  • Hunting by bow only
  • No waterfowl, small game or upland game bird hunting
  • No predator hunting (coyote, fox, raccoon, etc.)
  • Trapping allowed
  • OWLT permits 6-8 hunters

Huiras Lake State Natural Area – Fredonia, 113 acres

  • Managed Access Site
  • Deer hunting allowed
  • Hunting by bow and gun
  • Small game and upland game bird hunting allowed
  • Waterfowl hunting allowed
  • OWLT permits 7-10 hunters

Kratzsch Conservancy – Newburg, 73 acres

  • Managed Access Site

Lake 12 – Farmington, 1 acres

Lynn Preserve – Boltonville, 34 acres

  • Open Access site

Riverbend Conservancy – Trenton, 88 acres

  • Managed Access site

  • OWLT permits 6-8 hunters

South Oak Preserve – Trenton, 72 acres

  • Open Access site

Schoofs Preserve – Erin, 51 acres

  • Open Access site
  • Deer hunting by gun and bow
  • Waterfowl, small game, and upland game bird hunting allowed
  • Trapping and predator hunting allowed

Spirit Lake Preserve – Mequon, 155 acres

  • Open Access site, however there is a restricted zone adjacent to the residential development east of the property.
  • Hunters must obtain a discharge permit from the City of Mequon before hunting.
  • Parking is limited and is first come first serve
  • Deer hunting by gun and bow
  • Waterfowl, small game and upland game bird hunting allowed
  • Trapping and predator hunting allowed

Wendt Preserve – Wayne, 45 acres

  • Managed Access site
  • Hunting by gun and bow
  • Small game and upland game bird hunting allowed
  • Waterfowl hunting allowed
  • Trapping and predator hunting allowed
  • OWLT permits 2-4 hunters
  • Parking is on the shoulder of the road only and limited
