Highland Woods

The 84 acre natural area is a premier example of high quality old growth forest and an important wildlife corridor in the Pigeon Creek floodplain. Very few examples of high quality, old growth mesic forest remain in southern Ozaukee County and protection of the restoration area is valuable to restore habitat for forest species. Highland Woods was purchased in 1995 and is maintained by the City of Mequon as a passive-use nature area for the community.
