Monarch Tag and Release Event at Forest Beach Migratory Preserve

OWLT Volunteer Days
08/25/2018 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
4970 Country Club Beach Rd, Port Washington, WI 53074, USA

August 25 from 1 - 3 p.m, join the Western Great Lakes Bird and Bat Observatory for this summer's third Observatory-hosted Monarch event- a Tag-and-Release Party at Forest Beach Migratory Preserve, where we will tag and release fifth-generation ("Gen 5") Monarchs.

These are the butterflies that are five generations removed from the adults that overwintered In Mexico, and they are the adults that will migrate all the way to Mexico for the winter. There will be Monarch cake (while the supply lasts) and Ozaukee Washington Land Trust tours of the prairie at one of its most beautiful times of the year.

People who have been raising Monarchs and have some to release are welcome to bring them to the party to join their fellow Monarchs on the Great Migration.
